MY STORY
Bella is a 1-year-old Belgian Malinois mix, weighing 45 lbs. Abandoned and scared, she was found living on an old couch in the street. Though cautious with strangers, she eventually warms up. Bella gets along well with other dogs and was kind and patient when tested with cats. She would thrive in a home that offers both mental and physical stimulation. Francesca
Francesca, 14 lbs, is just a year old but has already been a mom and abandoned. She was found near the shelter with her pup, Paco. Likely a terrier/dachshund mix, she has medium energy, gets along well with dogs and people, and did well with cats during testing. Francesca enjoys alerting her shelter friends to cows, horses, or unfamiliar dogs nearby (great if you need a little watchdog!). She’s healthy, spayed, and vaccinated. Currently at SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, Francesca can fly to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, or Seattle in the fall when flights resume. Paco
Born in February 2024, Paco, 9 lbs, was abandoned near the shelter with his mom, Francesca. A terrier/dachshund mix, Paco is full of life and joy. He’s friendly with dogs and affectionate with people. During cat testing, Paco was curious but respectful, never chasing. With medium energy, this little guy (like his mom) is sure to be popular! MY STORY
Rudy
Young Rudy, born Feb 2024 was found one morning as a very young puppy buried in dirt near the shelter. He was taken into the SPCA PV sanctuary, and they learned that he was buried to soothe burns on his back where his hair is now discoloured. He currently weights 22 lbs, we think he’ll grow to be about 45-50 lbs. He was lucky that one of our sweet mamma pups Keisha took him under her wing to give him the love he should still get as a young pup. He’s a playful boy that would love a yard and adventures, and maybe even a welcoming dog friend.
Rudy is healthy and ready to fly. He is currently at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, and will be able to fly to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton (possibly also Vancouver island) or Seattle in fall when flights resume. Marcy
Marcy, born in October 2023, is a playful and energetic Mexican mix with some Australian Cattle Dog and Lab (based on a sibling’s DNA test). She loves walking and swimming and would do well in a home with a yard and an active family. Marcy was part of a litter abandoned near the sanctuary, and after briefly staying on a neighboring farm, she wandered off and later found her way back to the SPCA PV sanctuary.
Friendly with people and dogs, Marcy is house-trained, knows basic commands, and has been tested with cats—curious but unsure about them. She loves toys and bones, occasionally growling to keep other dogs from taking them. Marcy is spayed, healthy, and vaccinated. Her siblings are thriving in Vancouver, Bellingham, and Vancouver Island. Flights to Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Seattle, and Vancouver Island will resume in the fall.

Keisha
Keisha is a 5-year-old, 52 lb shepherd mix full of love and affection. She was rescued malnourished and chained, protecting her pups in a hole she had dug. All of her pups have since been adopted and are thriving. Sadly, Keisha was found to be blind, likely due to poisoning. Despite this, she’s been a nurturing presence, guiding her pups and now caring for other abandoned puppies at the SPCA PV sanctuary.

Princess
Princess, a 4-year-old weighing 48 lbs, was found living in an abandoned lot near the SPCA PV sanctuary. The shelter initially brought her in to be spayed, but her sweet nature made it impossible to return her to the streets. When first rescued, she was hesitant to go for walks, but after surgery to remove one of her eyes, she’s much happier and more comfortable. Princess loves people and is very smart, though she’s not fond of cats. She prefers male dogs but would likely enjoy being the only pet, receiving all the attention.
Princess would appreciate a home with a yard but is also good on walks in busier areas. She is currently at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico and can fly to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, or Seattle in the fall when flights resume. Sofia is a gem of a girl – she is a 3 years old, 17 lb mix of sugar and spice and everything nice. She is lower energy, and a bit reserved. She doesn’t run up to strangers, she’ll stand back to assess, and then is very friendly. Sofia is good with dogs and cats. She’s a quiet influence at the shelter and not a barker. Sofia was dumped near the SPCA PV sanctuary with her bestie Lucia, and wouldn’t they make an amazing duo? We’d love to adopt them together, but we can’t hold them back from finding a home that loves them if that’s not possible. While at the shelter we can’t confirm if she’s house trained, but it seems she once had a home, so we think its likely that she is. Sofia is healthy, spayed and vaccinated. This beautiful redhead has the cutest ears! Lucia is 1 year old weighing 28 lbs. She is gregarious and friendly. Lucia and Sofia were left abandoned together near the SPCA PV sanctuary. We’d love to adopt them together, but we can’t hold them back from finding a home that loves them if that’s not possible. While at the shelter we can’t confirm if she’s house trained, but it seems she once had a home, so we think its likely that she is. Lucia is medium energy and lovely with people. She is good with dogs at the shelter, though barks if there is a barrier, which is not uncommon in shelter environments. Lucia was tested with cats, and at first was avoidant and then gently curious. She even let the cats hold her leash. Lucia is healthy, spayed and vaccinated. These lovely young ladies were abandoned together, and have continued to live together in the SPCA PV sanctuary, and we’d love to find them a home together. ROCKY

Rocky is a 3 year old Shepherd boy, nothing wrong with him, and nonetheless his family was going to put him to sleep.
Rocky´s family was moving and didn´t want to take him with them, they came to our vet Dr. Poli and asked him to put the dog to sleep. Can you believe it…
Needless to say Poli was not going to put a perfectly healthy, friendly dog to sleep for no reason, so he asked if we can take Rocky.
Rocky is a healthy 60lbs, likes belly rubs and is now at the shelter with us.

Born November 2022, Libby, a shepherd cross currently weighs 22 lbs and is expected to grow to about 35 lbs. Libby and her sister Lizzy were left tied up, sick and hungry as young puppies, and have spent their early lives in the rural SPCA PV sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta. Libby likes to walk, run and even swim! As Libby has spent her early life in a quiet rural sanctuary, the world will be a big change and she’ll want a quiet landing place. We expect she will be shy around strangers, and in busy areas. Libby is good with cats and likes a good wrestle play with dogs. Libby would like a non urban centre to call home, ideally with a yard. She is healthy, spayed and vaccinated.

Lana was an owner surrender. He asked us to find her a better home than he can give her as he didn´t really have time for her. And Lana who as a Blue Heeler is a very smart dog that needs to be kept active and busy, was just sitting at home with not enough attention most of the time. So we took her in and promised to find her a better fitting place. Lana is about 8 years old and would love to find a nice home.
