HOW TO FOSTER
A major way to help us is to volunteer your home to foster certain rescues that are ready to leave the sanctuary but don’t have their “furrever” home in place or ready yet. Fostering can be a very rewarding experience and allows you to participate in the final stages of “rescuing”. Additionally, inviting one of our rehabilitated dogs to stay with you and your family frees up space within our sanctuary for another dog to be rescued. It is a win/win!
We will handle all the transport, expenses and necessary paperwork involved in fostering within the Puerto Vallarta area, Canada and the United States. Transportation out of the country is coordinated with volunteers that help get the animals from point A to point B, although the majority of our foster families pick up the animals directly from the airport.
Any dog that leaves the sanctuary is fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered and healthy, although there may be an occasional animal that requires continued medication/care or follow up with a veterinarian. In those cases, we will provide those fostering with all necessary details.
To help promote adoption of our fostered animals, SPCAPV is proud to work with both Petfinder (www.petfinder.com) and Adopt-a-Pet (www.adoptapet.com) which advertise our dogs in targeted areas. You will find our organization listed as “PVCA Animal Rescue” for both the above websites. We also use multiple social media sites to facilitate finding furr-ever homes for these animals.
Based on our experience, it is rare that a dog is not adopted within a few weeks. We do ask, however, that you agree to keep the dog until a home is found and that you allow a potential candidate access to the dog available for adoption.

If you decide fostering is something you would enjoy, please complete the application form and contact us at email@example.com for further information. If you desire, we can provide you with contact information for one or two of our foster families who would be able to provide you with more specifics regarding their experience at fostering.
We hope to hear from you.
